cabinet doors to be made?
I am in the process of making some new doors for a cabinet..They will be approx. 4 foot long..All of the rest of the cabinets are made of cherry lumber...Cherry is very expensive
so I was thinking of making these from pine..What kind of stain will make them look closer to cherry to match the rest of the cabinets..And will 3/4 pine warp? There will be two doors..12 1/2 inch by 4 foot I had to make some changes in order to install a new range..Or would I be better to get some type of ply wood with a cherry veneer on it..My biggest concern is the possibility of them warping..Thank you for any advice you have to offer..
Doors of solid wood that large will almost certainly warp in time. Veneer plywood with a applied hardwood edge would be a better choice. Also - on a door that size, use at least 3 hinges on each door, preferably 4.
